The Train is a unique object found in Happy Town. If touched, the player will be linked to the Clockwork Machines, Natural World or Kyoto, depending on the type of train.

In the instruction booklet, there's a special thanks to BEAMS, a Japanese clothing store. In the original journal on which the game is based, a number of dreams involve the BEAMS store or logo. Outside Directors Company obtained permission from BEAMS to incorporate their logo and slogan "BASIC & EXCITING" into the game. It is used in sexual textures for the Train.

Notably, the normal texture of the Train muzzle is the texture shown on the bottom side of the hanging cubes in Happy Town.

The Train has its own sound, however due to imperfections of the PlayStation map loading system, the sound usually stops suddenly, making the train go completely silent.

Types of trains[]

The fast train of Happy Town can be seen only on B-type days. It is located near the Ferris wheel, where it suddenly appears from the tunnel if the player approaches. It can also spawn near the castle, moving towards the tunnel. Upon touching/being hit by the train, the player will either be linked to Kyoto if the train is travelling from the tunnel, or to Clockwork Machines if the train is travelling to the tunnel. There's a special action which can be performed with this train.

The slow train is unique to A-type days; it is located in the southwest corner of Happy Town. It spawns when the player is looking on a certain spot of the railroad. This train will link you to Natural World when touched. There's a rare event that includes this train.

Events and actions[]

Near the ferris wheel, there's a tunnel that the railroad tracks lead into. If the player tries to walk into this tunnel, a train will appear, quickly moving towards the player. By quickly pressing circle (confirmation button on PSX controller) before the train runs you over, you can teleport inside and become the train conductor. After a few seconds, an automatic link will occur, sending the player to Kyoto.

Another event includes the slow train stopping near the column, where you can usually see the opera singer standing. This event is known as one of the rarest in the game, as the player has to wait approximately 2 minutes for the slow train to ride around and stop near the column. Additionally, the train is very likely to simply disappear as soon as it reaches the column. But if you're lucky enough to see the stopped train near the column, after a few seconds it will honk once and start flying away into the clouds. The trigger of this event is fully dependent on player's previous actions and decisions.

Trivia & Glitches[]

Dodging the train near the tunnel and chasing it all the way to the castle will allow the player to observe a glitch. Pressing the circle button once the train reaches the column will trigger the event of becoming the train conductor like normal, but before the automatic link can occur, the train will disappear as it reaches its despawn zone, thus losing the player their ability to move until the dream's end.
